The process begins with selections on the New report dialog, then everything is configured on a single page.

New report dialog

Select Flow Matrix as Report type, then fill in the Report name field.

Left panel - report configuration

The left panel is where you configure every part of the report — dates, times, regions, filters and settings.

Report name

The header of the left panel displays the report name and lets you edit it. The API button lets you get the current analysis parameters as a request in .json format, which can be posted directly to the API. The icons on the right let you Collapse/Expand all sections and Collapse/Expand panel.

Dates section

Add a date range by clicking Create new date, or reuse a saved one with Add from template. Use the weekday buttons for a quick selection of Everyday, Weekdays, or Weekend, or click individual days directly on the calendar to exclude them from the range.

Click the calendar icon in the From or To field to open a calendar popover for quickly jumping to a specific month or year, instead of paging through months one at a time.

Once dates are added, the Dates section shows an overview where you can edit, delete or save date ranges as a template, or remove every range at once with Delete all in the section header.

Times section

Define time ranges using Add new time range.

Alternatively, pick a previously saved time range from Add from template.

You can also generate a full set at once with the Time ranges component — pick a bucket size and click Generate.

Regions

To define analysis regions, either draw them on the map using any of the Drawing tools (see Drawing tools) or use the Upload button.

If you only need Origin-Destination pairs and don’t need Via information, turn on the Origin - Destination only toggle — this also raises your region limit, multiplied by 3 (default: 1,800).

The list of added regions shows their total count, editable names, area size and delete icons. Click a region name to change it. While editing, use the arrow up/down keys to move to the previous/next region.

Editable regions show an edit-shape icon in the list, which also appears as the cursor when hovering the region on the map. Click the icon, or click the region on the map, to reshape it — see Editing a region’s shape.

Use the button below the region list to download your regions as a GeoJSON .json file.

Filters

Use the Vehicle types filter to limit the analysis to specific vehicle categories.

Settings

Use this section to disable Trip statistics and reduce processing time for large analyses, if you don’t need them. The Timezone selector lets you change the timezone, which is automatically derived from the analysis region geometries.

Report validation

If any report parameters are invalid, you’ll see a banner at the bottom of the left panel explaining what’s wrong. When the issue comes from a specific section, that section’s header also shows an error icon with a tooltip explaining why.

Map area - region selection

Map controls

Use the controls in the top-right corner of the map area to:

• Search for a coordinate or address
• Read and change the current map zoom
• Select the base map style
• Center the map view on drawn regions
• Take a screenshot of the current map canvas

Drawing tools

Use the Drawing tools in the top-left corner of the map to draw or select analysis regions. Choose from a circle, rectangle, polygon, (freehand) shape painter, a grid (square or hexagonal cells), an administrative area, or select a road segment directly from the road network.

For administrative areas, choose the data source: Default, Overture Maps, or, for the UK only, UK Ordnance Survey.

While drawing, keyboard shortcuts are also supported: Escape cancels the shape, Backspace removes its last point, and Enter confirms it.

Editing a region’s shape

Click an editable region on the map, or its edit-shape icon in the region list, to adjust its shape. Drag a corner to move it, drag the midpoint of an edge to insert a new corner there, or drag the region’s center to move it around the map. Click the region again, or click elsewhere on the map, to stop editing.

Map version selector

Use the Map version selector to change the map version used for map matching. The recommended map version is selected based on the chosen date ranges and geometries. The Road network of the selected map version toggle shows or hides the road network, visible from zoom 13-20. Its legend is shown in the bottom-right corner of the map area.

Map matching is disabled once the regions’ convex hull exceeds 3,000 km², and the map version selector shows a warning.

Bottom bar - status and actions

The bottom bar shows the report’s status, usage limits and creation actions throughout the configuration process.

Information icon

The information icon’s tooltip explains the next steps in the creation process.

Report limits

The bottom bar shows gauges for your report’s usage limits, so you can see at a glance how close you are to each limit while configuring the report.

Pricing coverage

Current pricing coverage information is displayed in the middle of the bar. If it exceeds the limit, the bar turns red. Clicking Preview shows the buffer of roads used to calculate the report’s price.

This buffer of roads is not related to counting trips at all. It’s only for informative purposes, to calculate the price of your report based on Functional Road Classes (FRC) from 0 to 5 and the regions defined in your analysis. Each region also includes a buffer of at most 10 km around its boundary. When regions or their buffers overlap or sit close together, shared roads are only counted once, so the total is not simply the sum of each region on its own.

Pricing coverage does not change with the number of date ranges or time sets in your report — it depends only on the regions you select. This is the coverage for a single report — how coverage across multiple reports is billed depends on your pricing model and contract.

Actions

The right side of the bottom bar lets you Cancel the creation process, Save as draft, or Generate report.

Resuming a report

If a previous report creation was interrupted by closing the page, the application offers to restore its dates, times and regions the next time you open the creation dialog.
